Interactive digital whiteboards: drawing HSC Biology processes live

“Science is nothing but trained and organised common sense.” - Thomas Huxley

Developing a real curiosity for science starts by exploring how things move, change and react visually. Good online HSC Biology tutoring keeps them doing the thinking, with a tutor working alongside them in real time.

Year 12 Biology is full of processes, and a process is far easier to explain once you’ve drawn it yourself.

Why drawing the process helps

A diagram of gene expression, drawn one step at a time, shows exactly where each molecule goes and why. When your child then explains it out loud, any missing link in the chain becomes obvious.

That missing link is usually the one costing marks in long answers.

How a session works

Sessions run on Google Meet with a shared digital whiteboard. Your child can write with a pen on an iPad, or type and draw with a mouse.

  1. Check-in: how they’re feeling, and what’s next in the assessment schedule.
  2. Draw it step by step: a process like transcription and translation, built live on the whiteboard.
  3. Explain it back: your child walks through the process out loud, cause by effect.
  4. Answer the question: a past HSC-style long answer, checked against the verb it uses.
  5. Review and next steps, written into the shared Google Doc.

How we check it’s landing

Signs it’s working

  • Your child can draw a key process from memory.
  • They explain processes as a chain of causes and effects.
  • They check the question’s verb before answering.
  • Their notes are current, so there’s no scramble before assessments.

Every drawing and note stays in the shared Google Doc, so you can see what was covered at any time.
